Move More This Summer

Would you like to Move More? The library is hosting the Move More Lifestyle Activity Challenge through the month of July!

The challenge is to add more Lifestyle Activity to your days by tracking your activity for four weeks. You can participate by email only, in-person, or a combination. You’ll get a challenge sheet, a weekly email with helpful tips, and support from fellow participants. The group will meet at 6 pm on Wednesdays in July. Sign up for emails or register to attend in-person meetings here. The in-person meetings kick off on Wednesday, July 3.

Lifestyle activity is the activity of daily living — taking the dog for a walk, carrying your basket of groceries, parking farther from the entrance at work, taking the stairs, vacuuming, and gardening. Playing ball with your kids, going for a hike, visiting a museum, or going to the pool are all great ways to move more, too!

The library has resources that can help motivate, inspire, and encourage you to succeed. How about checking out some exercise videos? Find a new activity to participate in with your kids or borrow a museum pass and spend the day walking!

Here are some ideas to get you moving:

Try some outdoor games! The library loans outdoor games including lawn bowling, bocce ball, pickleball, tug of war, sack race bags, a parachute and more. You can request items online and pick them up when they’re available.

Check out one of the library’s free Museum Passes. Ephrata Cloister, Landis Valley, and Wheatland all have beautiful outdoor spaces to explore as well.
