Wondering where to find books for your child? Every child has different reading levels and interests, but these sections are a good place to start:

Birth-2: Board Books (BB)

Age 2-5: Everybody Books (E)

Age 4-8: Early Readers (ER)

Age 6-8: Early Chapter Books (JF) Examples: Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House, Paw Patrol, A-Z Mysteries

Age 8-12: Chapter Books (JF)

Age 13+: Teen Books (YA)

Also see the Junior Non-Fiction section. It has books at a variety of reading levels, and some kids prefer true vs. fake.

Research has shown that letting children choose their own books can help make them better readers. So, if your grade school child wants to read a picture book, or prefers non-fiction, that’s okay!

If you have any questions, ask a librarian. We are here to help!
