Adamstown Area Library is proud to be a Family Place™ library. Family Place is a center for early childhood information, parent education, early literacy, socialization and family support.
The library holds Fall & Spring Play & Learn Workshops with local schools, provides a play-based area in the library, maintains a collection of parenting books, hosts multiple storytimes each week, and invites resource professionals to storytimes.
Play & Learn workshop sessions feature art, blocks, books, puzzles, a storytime, puppets and more! Since an integral part of the project is the collaboration between community agencies and the library, there are resource professionals including early intervention specialists on hand to informally answer parenting questions and concerns. Play & Learn Workshops are offered as a partnership between Adamstown Area Library, Cocalico School District, Community Action Partnerships (CAP) and Parents as Teachers. If you would like to learn more, please contact the Youth Service department at info@adamstownarealibrary.org.
The Children’s Room at the library provides specially designed spaces for play and learning where children along with their caregivers can play, learn and grow together. These spaces feature interactive materials for very young children and parents including board and picture books, age-appropriate toys, puzzles, dramatic play items, blocks and drawing stations creating a rich space for little ones to explore.
Funding for the Adamstown Area Library’s Family Place™ is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, Governor.
