Adult Summer Reading 2025

Pick up your entry forms at the library. For each book you read or listen to this summer, fill out an entry form and place it in the collection jar at the circulation desk. At the end of each month, staff will randomly draw one winning entry from the forms submitted that month. Runs from June 7 – August 16. Keep reading and keep entering to win!

Mah-Jongg Group – Monday, June 2 from 6-8:30 p.m. Experienced players as well as people wanting to learn are invited to drop in to play Mah-Jongg on the first Monday of each month. For adults and teens.  

Friends Book Sale – Tuesdays in the library community room. Whatever your favorite genre, you’ll find something to love at the Friends Book Sale! Book Sale hours are Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for the second Tuesday of each month when the sale will end at 5:30 p.m. for a library program. June 3, 10, 17, 24.  

Young At Heart – Wednesday, June 4 & 18 from 9-11 a.m. REAL Life Community Services invites you to Young at Heart, with free events for anyone age 60 and up. Join us at the library for coffee, chatting, games, crafts, and more on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month. For more information, call 717-336-7797 or visit REALLCS.org.     

Connect with a Social Worker at the Library – Wednesday, June 4 & 18 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Are you facing challenges or seeking support in your life? A licensed social worker from REAL Life Community Services is here to help! Regular hours are every other Wednesday from 11:30-2 in the library’s community room. Technology Help – Fridays by appointment from 1-3 p.m. Could you use some help with your mobile devices? Or maybe you want to learn Word or apply for a job online? Come to the library! Library staff will provide free one-on-one training, assistance with online job applications, or help with your electronic device. The Amazing World of Honeybees: From Hive to Ecosystem – Thursday, June 12 at 6 p.m. Honeybees are fascinating creatures that play a crucial role in our ecosystem. Join us as we explore how honey is made, bee biology, behavior, and the significant impact they have on agriculture and the environment. Attendees can get their questions answered and see the brand-new Observation Hive! For adults, teens, and tweens. Please register. 

Coffee and Chit-Chat – Friday, June 13 and Monday, June 23 from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Drop by the fireplace to meet our new library director and enjoy a free cup of coffee!  Corinne is eager to hear your library memories, experiences, and ideas for our community and library. 

Porch Popsicles – Friday June 13 from 3-4pm – Cool off with a popsicle and say hello to Corinne, your new library director — right here on the library’s front porch! 

Almost Perfect Crimes — Tuesday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. Discover “Whodunit!” Upon registration, you will receive the Zoom link and the Mini Murder Mystery Story. Additional clues and evidence will be revealed during our meeting to solve the crime together. For teens and adults due to some graphic content.    

Book Club – Monday, June 23 from 6-7 p.m. Join us at Adamstown Area Library for our new monthly Book Club! Share your thoughts on that month’s book and get to know other readers in your community. All are welcome, regardless of whether you’ve finished the book. For our June meeting, we’ll be reading The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. Copies of the book are available through our online catalog or by calling or visiting a branch. Please register. 

Evening at the Hearth: A Community Conversation – Weds, June 25, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Join Corinne, your new library director, for an informal chat. We’ll talk about books, dreams for the library, and what matters most to you. 

Castaneda’s Library Fundraiser – Wednesday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. On the last Wednesday of each month, 10% of all proceeds at Castañeda’s Mexican Restaurant in Denver go to the Adamstown Area Library! (excludes alcohol). Dine-in or take-out that day to enjoy great food while supporting the library! 323 Main Street, Denver.  

Jewelry SwapThursday, June 26 at 6 pm. Swap the jewelry you no longer want for items you will love. Bring your unwanted item(s) in good condition to the library. One at a time, everyone chooses something to take home. After everyone gets one thing, it’s free-for-all. Anything left over at the end is donated to charity. Clean out your house, find something new to you, and get your unwanted jewelry to someone who will actually use it! Snacks provided. For adults and teens. Please register. 

GO Lancaster! – All summer, through August 16. Grab your water bottle, lace up your sneakers and get ready to Get Outdoors (GO!) in Lancaster County! Go Lancaster is now for adults, too! Everything you need is on Beanstack or visit lancasterlibraries.org/go-lancaster for more info.

Seed Saving Basics – Wednesday, August 6 at 6 pm. Discover the reasons to save your own seeds, methods for collecting and preserving the seeds, and the best plants to use to get started with seed saving. For adults & teens. Please register.
