Girls Can Be Engineers Too! Balloon Powered Cars

Barbara Mizdail, retired Automotive Engineer and professor, will lead this event. Barbara’s career included working for Ford and Mack Trucks. She was the first female professor of Engineering at Penn State Berks. Barbara wants to share the message with girls that women can work in STEM careers and be successful and fulfilled in their work life, while still having a personal life.

Participants will make balloon-powered toy cars that meet specific performance criteria like; travels far, carries weight, or goes fast. Jet propulsion, friction, air resistance and design are the core scientific concepts participants explore in this challenge. Limit of 10 girls ages 10 to 14. Registration is required.
